Bones provide structure and support to the body, protect internal organs, and allow for movement. Bone tissue sections are used in research to study bone diseases and disorders, such as osteoporosis and bone cancer, as well as to understand the development and growth of bone. However, bone tissue is calcified, making it difficult to obtain thin tissue sections for microscopic analysis, so decalcification is required to prepare the tissue for sectioning.
