The kidney is a vital organ responsible for filtering waste products from the blood and regulating fluid and electrolyte balance in the body. It is essential for maintaining normal bodily function and preventing the buildup of harmful substances. Tissue sections are needed to study the kidney as they provide a thin and flat sample that can be easily sliced and observed under a microscope. This allows researchers to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying various kidney functions, such as glomerular filtration, tubular reabsorption, and renal regulation of blood pressure, and to identify changes that occur in kidney diseases and disorders, such as chronic kidney disease and nephrotic syndrome.
