George Kong CEO

George Kong is the CEO and co-founder of Precisionary Instruments, a leading innovator in tissue sectioning for life science research,, drug development, and diagnostics. Together with his father, the inventor of the company’s patented vibrating microtome, the Compresstome, George has helped establish the company’s global impact on scientific research and healthcare.

With a background in computer science and business strategy, George has extensive leadership experience across high-tech and life sciences sectors. He has held key roles in startups and multinational companies in big data and AI in both the U.S. and China. Known for building agile, cross-functional teams, George excels at bridging business and technical communication across cultures to achieve success for the companies he’s leading and customers he is serving. 

George holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Brown University and an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. With a deep focus on innovation and execution, George is committed to Precisionary’s contributions to advancement in global health sciences.

Abby Chu Chief Scientific Officer

Abby Chu is a dedicated scientific leader with over 20 years of laboratory research experience in neuroscience, electrophysiology, and biology. She earned her MD-PhD from the prestigious Harvard-MIT joint program and trained under Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Erwin Neher, the inventor of patch-clamp electrophysiology, at the Max Planck Institute in Germany. Her training deepened her expertise in advanced research techniques, particularly in experimental planning and protocol development.

Since 2016, Abby has served as Chief Scientific Officer at Precisionary Instruments, where she has helped grow the company into a leading provider of biotech and health science solutions. A key aspect of Abby’s work is her one-on-one engagement with scientists and customers, offering hands-on experimental guidance. She assists researchers in designing protocols, planning experiments, and troubleshooting technical challenges, ensuring they get the most out of their studies. Whether it’s overcoming grant-related hurdles or solving complex technical issues in the lab, Abby’s collaborative approach and scientific expertise provide invaluable support to the researchers Precisionary Instruments serves.

Sam Moss Lead Mechanical Engineer

Sam Moss is the Lead Mechanical Engineer at Precisionary Instruments, where he designs state-of-the-art tissue slicers used by scientists worldwide. He also oversees the manufacturing process of the company’s vibratomes, ensuring they are built to the highest standards of quality and precision.

Driven by a love for all things mechanical, Sam enjoys restoring vintage cars, repairing espresso machines, and finding creative ways to make broken items functional again. His enthusiasm for machinery fuels his innovative approach to developing cutting-edge slicers and improving the performance of existing models.

Sam earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and brings valuable experience in medical device development to his role at Precisionary Instruments. He thrives in a collaborative environment, contributing to a team dedicated to helping scientists make groundbreaking discoveries and advance their research.
