The Kidney (Renal) Toxicology Kit provides a complete accessory set for preparing precision-cut kidney slices (PCKS) used in nephrotoxicity, pharmacokinetics, and renal physiology research. Kidney tissue is highly vascular and metabolically active, requiring precise control of oxygenation, temperature, and sterility to maintain viability and tubular structure integrity during slicing. This kit enables consistent sectioning for ex vivo assays of renal transport, metabolism, and drug-induced injury. Key features and scientific justifications:
  • The oxygenation attachment maintains oxygen saturation to support renal metabolism and active transport function.
  • The double-wall buffer tray provides constant cooling, reducing ischemic stress and preventing hypoxic cell death.
  • The autoclavable stainless-steel buffer tray enables sterile slicing for toxicological, molecular, or histological assays.
  • Ceramic blades deliver clean, shear-free cuts that preserve glomerular and tubular architecture.
  • Sticky spacers stabilize kidney cortex or medulla sections during embedding, ensuring parallel, uniform slices.
  • Fine brushes and forceps allow gentle manipulation of thin cortical slices, avoiding tearing or compression artifacts.
  • The magnifying LED light assembly provides enhanced visualization for orientation of renal structures during sectioning.
