The Precision-Cut Liver Slice (PCLS-Liver) Kit is custom-engineered to help researchers produce uniform, viable ex vivo liver tissue slices for studies in drug metabolism, hepatotoxicity, fibrosis, and regenerative biology. Liver slices are metabolically active and highly sensitive to oxygen levels, shear stress, and temperature changes. This kit provides all the accessories needed to maintain physiological conditions during sectioning, ensuring consistent slice thickness, preserved cytoarchitecture, and functional hepatocyte activity for extended culture or assay use. Each included item supports a specific aspect of this workflow:
  • The oxygenation attachment provides continuous oxygen delivery, preventing hypoxia and maintaining cytochrome P450 enzyme activity.
  • The double-wall buffer tray keeps buffer temperature stable and chilled, limiting ischemic injury.
  • The autoclavable stainless-steel buffer tray enables sterile sectioning for molecular or histological downstream assays.
  • Ceramic blades ensure smooth, shear-free cuts that maintain intact lobular and sinusoidal structure.
  • Sticky spacers stabilize soft parenchymal tissue during embedding.
  • Fine brushes and forceps allow gentle handling of fragile hepatic slices during transfer and plating.
  • The magnifying LED assembly offers precise visual control of the cutting plane to minimize tissue distortion.
